The VP Bank Debit Mastercard is accepted wherever Mastercard is – when paying for things in shops, buying products from online stores or withdrawing cash from ATMs. Unlike a credit card, every transaction with your debit card is debited directly from your account. You do not receive a separate card statement: instead, you see the debit directly in your VP Bank e-banking. Of course, provisional transactions, e.g. when renting a car or reserving a hotel room, are not debited from your account. However, you can still view the provisional transaction in your VP Bank e-banking.

Security is what it’s all about
Your VP Bank Debit Mastercard is effectively protected against card misuse (skimming) thanks to GEO blocking. For your travels outside Europe, you can activate this feature free of charge for a maximum of four weeks. In addition, a PIN code is automatically requested by card readers for amounts over CHF 40. For your security, a PIN is occasionally requested for lower amounts, as well.
For your online purchases, we use 3-D Secure, the highest international security standard for online card payments. With 3-D Secure, you authorise your payments via an app, with this proof of identity protecting your bank account from unauthorised access.
Apple Pay – a safer, contactless way to pay
Now more than ever, Apple Pay is a better way to pay with your VP Bank Debit Mastercard. It’s contactless, safe and easy. And it keeps you from having to touch buttons or handle cash or cards when you’re out getting what you need.
Look for the contactless symbol wherever you shop, and online wherever you find Apple Pay at checkout, including apps.
If you’ve never made a contactless payment with Apple Pay, it’s easy to set up. On iPhone, open the Apple Wallet app, tap the “+” sign in the top right and follow the simple instructions. You can also set up your Apple Watch to pay with Apple Pay, using the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.*
When you make a purchase, Apple Pay uses a device-specific number and a unique transaction code. Your full card number is never stored on your device or on Apple servers, and it can’t be shared with merchants. Apple Pay doesn’t keep transaction information that can be tied back to you, ensuring all purchases are private.
Paying in shops
Apple Pay is the fast, safe way to pay in shops with your iPhone and Apple Watch. Quickly check out using the devices you carry every day.* To pay with Face ID, double-click the side button, glance at your screen, then hold your iPhone near the reader. For Touch ID, hold your iPhone near the reader with your finger on Touch ID. On Apple Watch, double-click the side button and hold your Apple Watch up to the reader.
Paying in apps and on websites
Apple Pay is the easier, faster way to pay in apps and on the web because you no longer have to create an account or fill out lengthy forms.* To pay in apps and on websites in Safari on your iPhone and iPad, select Apple Pay at checkout and complete the payment using Face ID or Touch ID.
To pay on websites in Safari on your Mac, select Apple Pay and complete the payment using your iPhone or Apple Watch. On MacBook Pro, pay using Touch ID on the Touch Bar.
